Introducing the 2017 Year of the Rooster Coin Collection

ABC Bullion is pleased to present the 2017 Year of the Rooster coin collection, the first of our minted Lunar series. 

The series celebrates the 12 animal zodiacs associated with the 12-year cycle of the Chinese Lunar calendar, starting with 2017. Celebrating the Year of the Rooster, this particular collection includes both silver and gold coins in a variety of sizes.

Animal zodiacs are dependent on birthdates, meaning anyone born in the years 2017, 2005, 1993 and every 12 years previous are considered Roosters. Those born in the Year of the Rooster are believed to be hardworking, confident, open, honest and loyal.

Showcasing the Year of the Rooster, the reverse of each coin depicts an elegant and robust Rooster representing prosperity in stunning detail. The rooster stands amongst some gorgeous cherry blossom branches with the sun on the horizon in the background of the design. The year number ‘2017’ is also included in both English and in Chinese characters.

• About the artist
  The reverse of the coin was designed by Chinese painter Sun-chun Kan. As a traditional Chinese painter using ink wash, he often paints landscapes, flora and fauna. The design of the coin was inspired by one of his graduation pieces having completed a diploma in Chinese Painting at the University of Hong Kong.
